On Septemper 30, 2025, the Collge of Natural Sciences was honored to welcome the Delegation from Ming Chi University of Technology (MCUT, Taiwan) as part of a visit to foster cooperation in education and research in the fields of Physics and Chemistry.
The meeting was attended by Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Tien – Vice Dean, together with lecturers, undergraduate and graduate students from the Departments of Physics, Chemistry, and Health Sciences. The MCUT delegation consisted of:
- Prof. Dr. Chi-Hsien Huang – Director of the Center for Plasma and Thin Film Technologies, Director of the International PhD Program in Plasma and Thin Film Technology, Chair of the Department of Materials Engineering.
- Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ching-Wei Tung – Section Chief, Center for Environmental and Human Health.
- Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Huu Phuoc – Lecturer, Center for Plasma and Thin Film Technologies.
During the meeting, the two sides introduced an overview of their training programs, research orientations, and academic strengths. The professors from MCUT also shared information about full scholarships for Master’s and PhD programs, as well as student exchange opportunities currently available at MCUT.
Both sides also dicussed the 3+2 Joint Master’s Program. Under this program, students will complete the first three years at Can Tho University, then continue the fourth year at MCUT (with full tuition fees waived and living expenses supported). If students achieve excellent academic results, they will be granted scholarships to pursue their fifth year at MCUT. In the coming period, the two sides will further discuss details and move towards signing a Memorandum of Agreement to implement this program.
Students of the Engineering Physics program - Ly Trieu Loc, Nguyen Le Thanh Thao (Cohort 47), and Le Tran Ngoc Tram (Cohort 48) - gave presentations to share their valuable experiences from the student exchange program at MCUT last year. At the end of the meeting, the professors of MCUT also conducted interviews with five candidates for the full Master’s and PhD scholarships at MCUT. The final results will be announced to the candidates in the near future.
The meeting not only laid the foundation for long-term cooperation in education, scientific research, and academic exchange between the two sides, but also opened up new opportunities for students and graduate students of the College of Natural Sciences to study and conduct research at MCUT.
