The Department of Health Sciences is a newly established unit under the College of Natural Sciences, Can Tho University, according to Decision No. 709/QD-DHCT dated March 4, 2024. The founding of the Department arises from the growing need for research and teaching in fields related to health sciences, biomedicine, pharmacy, and pharmacology, serving the goals of medical development and public health in the Mekong Delta region, Vietnam.

The Department currently has a total of 16 staff, including 15 lecturers and 1 engineer. Among the lecturers, the Department has 1 Associate Professor, 5 Doctors (PhD), and 10 Masters (MSc). Among the lecturers, there are 5 people studying and researching abroad, this not only improves teaching and research capacity but also opens up international cooperation opportunities for the Department.

The Department is currently in charge of the Bachelor program in Medicinal Chemistry, major code 7720203, the only Health Sciences major at Can Tho University. The program has been accredited according to the standards of the Vietnam Ministry of Education and Training by 2023. In addition, the Department also participates in teaching modules/courses related to Chemistry and Medicinal Chemistry for agricultural, environmental, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, fisheries, and related fields of Can Tho University.

The staff of the Department of Health Sciences are well-trained and have practical experience, meeting the requirements for quality teaching and research in fields related to health sciences. With a combination of extensive professional knowledge and a spirit of dedication, the Department of Health Sciences is not only a place to train generations of capable students but also a center for research, development and application. advanced medical solutions, contributing to improving the quality of health care for the community.

The department is also committed to developing diverse training programs, from short-term courses to long-term training programs at different levels, to meet the learning needs and improve qualifications of students in the field of health sciences.
