From May 11 to June 7, 2026, a group of students comprising Le Thi Kim Trang, Le Lan Dai, Tran Ho Bao Han, and Vo Giang Nam majoring in Applied Mathematics and Statistics at the Faculty of Mathematics, College of Natural Sciences, Can Tho University completed a short-term exchange program at National Central University (NCU), Taiwan.

During the four weeks, the students focused on Reinforcement Learning, delving into topics such as Markov Chains, Markov Decision Processes (MDP), Optimal Policies, and Dynamic Programming. Under the direct guidance of NCU professors, the team used Python to build a model for finding optimal solutions in a Gridworld simulated space. Their final project received positive feedback, highlighting their ability to seamlessly combine mathematical thinking and programming skills.

Beyond intensive academic sessions, the trip was an opportunity for students to explore Taiwanese culture and connect with the local community. They visited famous landmarks such as Ximending and the Taipei Zoo, and experienced the local cuisine. Interacting with international students and graduate students significantly improved their language proficiency, teamwork skills, and confidence in a multicultural environment.

Following the trip, the students expressed their deep gratitude for the care and support provided by Can Tho University. With a financial support of 9,000,000 VND per student, the trip not only provided a solid foundation of knowledge but also served as a great motivation for them to continue striving in their research and international integration in the future. The 28-day journey in Taiwan concluded with invaluable memories, serving as an important stepping stone to help students of the College of Natural Sciences become more confident in conquering new heights of knowledge.
