On March 5, 2026, the College of Natural Sciences had the honor of welcoming Prof. Higuchi Hirokazu and Prof. Kosaka Yasuyuki from Kyoto University, and Prof. Iizumi Yoshiko from Nihon University, during their visit and working session with the Faculty of Biology.

The meeting was attended by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thanh Men, Vice Rector of Can Tho University, together with representatives of the Biology Department. From Can Tho University, the meeting was also attended by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hua Thai Nhan, Diẻctor of the Department of External Relations and Global Education.

During the meeting, the parties discussed in detail the contents of the memorandum of agreement (MoA) expected to be signed between Can Tho University and Kyoto University under the theme: “Analyzing the influences of natural environment and market economy on the agricultural systems in the Mekong Delta, Vietnam”. According to the agreement, Can Tho University assigns the College of Natural Sciences as the representative unit to coordinate with the partner in implementing the research activities under the project. On the partner’s side, Kyoto University authorizes the Graduate School of Agriculture and the Graduate School of Asian and African Area Studies to serve as the representative units to participate in and implement the research activities under the agreement.

In the coming time, both sides will continue to exchange information and promote the necessary procedures to finalize the signing of the agreement and implement the project’s research activities.
