On January 15, 2026, the College of Natural Sciences had the honor of welcoming Prof. Samir Adly and Prof. Moulay Barkatou (Department of Mathematics, University of Limoges, France) on the occasion of their visit and working session with the Department of Mathematics. The meeting was attended by Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Tien, Vice Dean, together with faculty members, undergraduate and graduate students of the Department of Mathematics.

During the meeting, the two professors presented an overview of the ACSYON Master’s program in Applied Mathematics at the University of Limoges, with a strong focus on Mathematical Optimization for Artificial Intelligence. This is a modern training program that closely integrates research in optimization theory with applications in artificial intelligence.

The two sides also discussed the possibility of implementing a joint Master’s program. According to the proposed plan, students would complete the first year of study at Can Tho University and be awarded the M1 degree upon successful completion. In the second year, students may choose either to continue their studies at Can Tho University to complete the Master’s program or to study at the University of Limoges, where they would complete the second year and be awarded the M2 degree.

In the coming period, both institutions will continue detailed discussions and move toward the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding to implement this program. The meeting not only laid the foundation for cooperation in education, scientific research, and academic exchange between the two institutions, but also opened up valuable opportunities for students and graduate students of Can Tho University to study and conduct research at the University of Limoges, France.
